1. set out for:  -향해 나서다

- to begin traveling in a particular direction

- to start doing something, to begin an activity or effort with a particular plan or purpose

- often followed by to + V

 

I set out for the clinic. 

나는 클리닉에 갔어요.

They set out for the three different sites.

그들은 세가지 다른 장소에 갔다.

The next morning, they both set out for work.

다음 날, 둘 다 일하러 갔다.

 

2. fall short:  부족해지다 

- to fail to be as good or successful as expected or hoped for

- often + of

- to fail to reach a goal

 

To go too far is as wrong as to fall short. 

과한 것은 부족한 것과 같다.

Our imports fall short of our exports.

수입액은 수출액보다 적다.

Fall short of one's expectation.
